Principal: Dr. Marilyn Lewis Alim

As Salaam Alaikum, As Principal of the Islamic Academy of Huntsville, it is my hope that my many years of experience in education will benefit IAH. I have worked as a classroom teacher, public school administrator, college professor, education program manager, and education specialist. Most recently I worked as an Education Specialist at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center for eighteen years coordinating education outreach programs for schools and universities.

My education background includes a bachelor’s degree in English and Education from Spelman College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Smith College, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

I am the mother of five children; four are educators and one is a pediatrician. They have blessed me with ten grandchildren. I have been a member of the Huntsville Islamic Community since 1980 and was a founding member of the first masjid established in Huntsville.

It is an honor to work with the IAH staff, students, and families. My goal is to help IAH reach new heights in achievement, sustainability, and community visibility. I believe IAH can be a notable model for Islamic education.
